Preservation
We actively work to maintain and restore the physical structures and grounds of the Beaconsfield site — including the 1903 church building and century-old cemetery, ensuring they endure for future generations.

The Beaconsfield Church & Cemetery Committee is a registered non-profit charitable organization (Charity No. 889559571RR0001) committed to the long-term preservation, maintenance, and stewardship of the historic Beaconsfield United Church and its associated cemetery, located in the Municipality of Lorne near Swan Lake, Manitoba.
Our mission is to safeguard this irreplaceable heritage site for future generations — maintaining the physical grounds, preserving historical records, and connecting local families, researchers, and community members to the rich story this place holds.
Our vision is a community that remembers its roots, honours those who came before, and passes forward a sense of identity rooted in place, faith, and shared history.
Everything we do at Beaconsfield is guided by four core values that reflect the spirit of our community and the weight of our responsibility.
We actively work to maintain and restore the physical structures and grounds of the Beaconsfield site — including the 1903 church building and century-old cemetery, ensuring they endure for future generations.
We hold sacred the memory of every pioneer, settler, and military veteran who is part of the Beaconsfield story. Our WWI monument, dedicated in June 1921, stands as an enduring act of remembrance.
We are rooted in the Swan Lake community and the Municipality of Lorne. We welcome families, researchers, and visitors who wish to connect with this piece of Manitoba's past and contribute to its future.
As caretakers — not owners — of this heritage, we commit to responsible, thoughtful, and transparent management of the Beaconsfield site, always looking toward future generations.
The Beaconsfield Church & Cemetery Committee is made up of dedicated volunteers — many with deep personal and family ties to the Beaconsfield site. We are residents of Swan Lake and the Municipality of Lorne who believe that preserving this landmark is a vital act of community care.
Our committee meets regularly to plan and coordinate maintenance, preservation projects, and community events. We work in close partnership with the Manitoba Historical Society and the Manitoba Genealogical Society, which maintain records related to the Beaconsfield site.
As a registered CRA charitable organization, all activities are conducted with full transparency. We operate without paid staff — every hour invested in this site comes from the heart.
